PDF E-book version
Foreword:
Welcome to the second edition of the year 2010. The Iranian EFL Journal has had strong growth over the last few years with a monthly readership now exceeding 1,800 readers. For a new journal examining the topic of English second language acquisition from a local perspective, the growth and readership has been pleasing. Statistically, readers are coming from almost 80 countries. In the second issue of volume 6 we present five articles for your reading. In the first article the authors Ebrahim Khodadady, Reza Pishghadam, and Maryam Fakhar have explored the relationship among reading comprehension ability, grammar and vocabulary knowledge to find out whether an experimental design will confirm the findings of Shiotsu and Weir (2007) supporting the superior relationship of grammar to vocabulary knowledge.
In the second article the authors, Mansoor Fahim and Arman Abednia, employing the qualitative design, examine the dynamics of a transformative L2 teacher development course as perceived by the in-service L2 teachers. In the next article, Ma'ssoumeh Bemani Naeini and Ambigapathy Pandian have investigated the role of Mtlyiople intelligences in listening and motivational factors among Iranians. Next article by Leila Samavarchi, Hamid Allami, and Hassan Samavarchi deals with the politeness distinction in the use of second person pronouns in two languages, Hindi and Persian.
In the last article, Golnaz Modarresi Ghavami and Mohammad Hadi Mahmoodi have investigated the accessibility of Universal Grammar to Persian adult EFL learners. They have tried to use the concepts and framework of Optimality Theory to gain a better understanding about interlanguage phonology development.
We hope you enjoy this edition and look forward to your readership.
